Below is a note from our superintendent, Curt Nettles:
Lexington Schools’ Test Scores Continue to be Very Good
All Illinois public schools took part in state testing last spring. Grades three through eight took the ISAT, and the juniors took the PSAE. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) reports the testing results to school administrators as soon as results can be compiled, and then a period of review takes place to make sure all results are accurate. Finally, test results can be published by each district to its community. Recently, our district received the final results. These results were reported to the Lexington Board of Education at its October meeting on the 16th. The results show how many students meet and exceed expectations as well as how many fall below the standards. Although Lexington did very well over all, it is especially important to note: 1. 3rd grade math was at 95.6%. 2. 4th grade science was at 100%. 3. 5th grade math was at 97.2%. 4. 6th grade reading and math were both over 95%. 5. 7th grade science was at 97.2%. 6. 8th grade reading was at 93.7%. 7. Lexington achieved better than the state average in all categories and at all grade levels by as much as 23.8% in some categories. 8. 5th, 6th, 8th grade writing scores were all at least 11 percentage points higher than the state averages for those grade levels. 9. The juniors’ scores were higher than the state averages in all categories, most notably in science and writing. If you want to see more detail, please visit the district website and look for the School Report Card by clicking on the District Information link and scrolling to the bottom of the page. As soon as the state makes that available, it will be posted to the website.
